Interesting CW letter on clad dimes found in Silver Proof Sets bought from U.S. Mint

In the "Letters to the Editor" section on page 11 titled, "What's going on?" The person writing in tells of purchasing 40 2004-S SILVER Proof Sets
and opened them up "to make a few rolls." Out of the 40 sets, 28 Roosevelt Dimes were clad & 12 were silver. Geeeeez.

The US mint opened the door for these dime(half and quarter) swapping rip off artist. Half way thru 1998 the US mint starting making the silver proof set cases that were not sonically sealed and could be pryed apart and snapped back together without any signs of tampering. From 1999 until now all US proof sets have the pry apart cases. When I noticed this in 1998 I knew it would mean trouble.
Thank goodness the US mint hasn't figured out how make pry apart cases for the mint sets(uncirculated sets).

On this issue, the U.S. Mint needs to buy a vowel from our friends to the north.

The letter states he got the sets from the U.S. Mint. Not a third party.

That would really piss me off. You pay such a premium to get silver and it's not. I always thought that the mint should make the nickels out of silver too. For once I would like to see a 90% silver nickel.

My mistake- Should've read: 28 Roosevelt Dimes were clad & 12 were silver.
