What does it mean when syzygy3.14 or lmayer bid on your own auctions>?

Just curious, I know if lmayer is bidding, your starting price is too low.
When syzygy3.14 bids, does it mean it will end up in a GAI or SGC holder, or the opposite Gai, sgc>PSA. Thoughts are appreciated!

Lmayer bids on lots of auctions. Recently his bids for 1965 Topps baseball have been as strong as anyone's. As for the other guy I have no idea.
    Good for you.

If I remember correctly the board ssaid the synrgy guy was Skerbe. When lmayer goes strong, u know it good!

Edited: I guess this guy synrgy3.14 is also the beloved slabbed on ebay, not the one here in the forums

Pardon my ignorance, but is syzygy3.14 also known on Ebay as 'slabbed'? Or did syzygy3.14 sell Slabbed the O'rourke before it went on Ebay as a PSA 8? Either way, Wolfbears post is alarming to say the least.

Sorry, I knew there was a post, I guess it it slbbed?

To bottom-feeders like me, he is an eBay god.

He places low ball bids on a gazillion eBay items and then resells what he wins at his website: Larry's Vintage Baseball Cards

He's a very good guy to deal with.
  • Hey Guys,

I sell quite frequently on ebay and lmayer has won quite a few cards from me. He bids quite regularly and even if he doesn’t win, he pushes the final price up a bit. Its like he keeps everything honest, or he won’t let anybody get anything dirt cheap. Lmayer pays quickly and is one of the best I’ve dealt with.

I've never heard anything bad about lmayer, but it doesn't seem like he's much of a problem. syzygy3.14 , slabbed, and a few of those other ID's are all on my blocked bidder list though, as I wouldn't sell water to them in the middle of the Sahara (desert or casino, take your pick).

He (lmayer) has bought from me before, always a pleasant transaction. Just checked his site, saw a few of my old cards on there!

    Lmayer is the ultimate lowballer!

great guy and quite friendly...if he wins something from you he will pay fast and w/o any problems.

he will bid on probably 100's of auctions a day, always bidding low ball amounts, if he wins you can rest assured that your card sold as cheaply as possible.

the other guy its a disgrace to the hobby, known shill bidder, sheet cutter, etc, will crack out cards from all major companies (GAI, BGS, SGC PSA) and "fix" them and if his fixing gets out of control he will then send them to PRO.

Avoid any auctions from him even if they come from a respectable grader or even if they are low grade.

syzygy / slabbed / jodi-mo is definitely NOT skerbe or anybody else I'd willingly do business with. I'm glad calleocho described his credentials, not me.

Are you saying he doctors cards that aren't detected by the major graders?
How do you know are you aren't buying a card from another seller that didn't originally come from him?

Can you guys clarify if skerbe is another ebay ID that syzygy3.14 uses? There seem to be conflicting statements made.

    Chad
  • I retract my ealier statement that synrgy3.14 is skerbe. It has come to light here that he is Slabbed, Jodi-mo and some other ID's. Lmayer is great, i am always looking at his bid list!
  • GriffinsGriffins Posts: 6,076 ✭✭✭
It is my understanding that Synergy and Jodi-mo are both Gary Moser.
Larry Mayer is in Southern California. He can be a bit slow to respond to initial emails at times, I suspect he works long hours. He has always been very quick to ship once an order is put in place.

Lmayer is a very faster payer and good guy. I concur with everyone about Lmayer, he bids low.

I usually try to outbid him on items by a dollar or 2, I know I got a good deal!
  • just be nice to have anyone bidding on my auctions!image
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!
  • Larry also has a large number of very impressive list of sets on the registry.

There are two Skerbes. One is in Michigan and the other in Las Vegas. Neither is syzygy3.14, jodi-mo, or any other alias that Gary Moser uses.

Moser and the other guy (forgot his name) haven't been listing much under their ebay id's the last 3-4 months, but they've been buying a ton. Maybe they sell them off ebay? I'm not sure what their angle is or how they're currently operating.

All I can tell you is that IF Moser can alter cards and get them past the grading companies he's currently using, then he's the least of your worries. The PRO graded cards he used to list were hack jobs; I never saw any indication that he was a "master card doctor."
  • calleochocalleocho Posts: 1,569 ✭✭
Gary moser its not the best doctor out there.

he will buy high grade examples of PSA/GAI/SGC 6 and 7's and try a few times for bump, or try to iron out a wrinkle , clean a stain.

nothing like bleaching, recoloring , building corners etc,

those are the cards he gets through all big 3 grading co.'s

when he buys low grade is to hack and send to PRO.
