Poll..How long do you wait for payment on an item on the BST before you relist it?

That's the question. I had something on the BST and recieved a pm on 2/3 to buy it. I said OK, edited the thread to "sold" sent a pm for Paypal payment or an addy if needed and so far no reply......

The member hasn't posted since the third and I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt that he just forgot about it. But......I'm tired of looking at this box on the floor.......

Should I just wait a few more days or put it back up for sale on the BST.....

Thanks
Tom

I think 10 days is an acceptable period of time, but I might stretch that to two weeks for a fellow forumite.

  • I buy stuff from the BST board. If I see something I like I contact the seller. As soon as the seller gives me a total (which is usually within a couple of minutes after me asking questions and whatnot) I ship Payment that day. My stuff is usually not in the mail more than 4 days. Depends on how the mail runs.

Example: I bought some Frankies from a Board Member. When the deal was done we both went to P.O. He shipped merchandise, I shipped Payment. 2 days he had Payment and I had coins. We both got stuff on same day. Doesn't get any better then that.

  • Perhaps this thread will serve as a gentle "reminder" to your customer, if you don't plan on contacting him directly regarding your transaction image

Otherwise, I'd give it another week, maximum, and then relist. Perhaps he's in the middle of a family crisis and hasn't been able to get on the forum. Who knows.

10 days really is a long time. That's like 5 days to get around to writting a check or getting a MO and 5 days for the mail.

On eBay I wait 10 days and the file a unpaid item dispute and then it's another 7 day wait.

But here your buyer probably doesn't even know he has a deal with you if he hasn't responded or logged in for a week, so I'd think two weeks without a reply is plenty of time.

I voted "7 days"...plus I think you should out the deadbeat buyer.

Now I'm off to check my PM log to see if there's anything I forgot to take care of. image

I've always paid within one day, I always ask those buying from me when they expect to pay
and ask them to let me know when payment is sent.
I really think it's in everyone best interest to get things known up front.
    Just my opinion
  • It would be OK if the buyer said a check was in the mail, but he doesn't have my addy. Just my email adress for Paypal that I sent him in a pm a half hour after he sent one to me with the offer to buy....

I'm still thinking the member just forgot.....hopefully nothing happened to him......

The money amount is small, so we are not talking about big bucks.....Just getting tired of looking at this boximage

I'll give it 3 more days and then I'll just re-edit my thread on the BST.
    Thanks

What's the item? What was the price?
Maybe I want to snipe it image

Seriously though...could have forgotten....could have PC problems (I did)....could be on a trip with no access (that happened to me during FUN)....etc.
Are they still posting? When did they last login? Have you sent a friendly reminder to them?

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

When I agree to buy something, my payment is in the mail the following day...

I would be patient with a fellow forum member. I know I've been caught out of town and couldn't take care of something like this. 10 days seems like a long time, but if he hasn't posted, maybe he hasn't gotten the paypal info yet. Also, unlike some of us that check in here daily, maybe he just hasn't had the time to check out the forum.

I should also point out that it might make a difference if it is a $1000 coin versus a $25 coin.
