05' SAE's Quality?????

I just received my T/roll & all were banged up pretty good. Not a pristine one in the bunch! Contacted the Vendor & was informed most all were in sorry condition. Anyone have any better luck? I'd like to return my roll for replacement but if they're all bad why waste the postage.....image

  • all were banged up pretty good.

It's bullion. That's to be expected. It really is a total waste of money buying SAE rolls hoping for a couple of pristine coins. Why pay the silver spot premium and shipping fees when you can achieve the same by purchasing a couple of slabbed coins without the headaches.

  • Hey Seq how ya been? I buy the T/rolls mostly for business give-aways, gifts & such; This is just a query as to the general condition that others have observed with their rolls. I did an SAE search prior to my post & noticed a bunch of forum members joined together & bought a couple of monster boxes at the same cost per roll as I had paid. I hope some of them chime in as my retailer informed me over the phone that their rolls came with the green top taped on as opposed to completely closed. I buy slabbed coins too but it bothers me to see a "new product" in such crappy condition. When I give something away I'd like it to nice ya know....

    Thx for the input

My 2 rolls came out pretty good from the buy that Randy did in early Jan.
Who did you buy from? Possible that they went through all their rolls, grabbed the good ones for extra markup, and repackaged (in the containers) the rest?

Doing a lot of "in and out" with those tight containers will leave a lot of marks.....

btw....I put my "bullion" into my dansco and intercept albums with the rest of their sister bullion, and they all look quite pretty together...worth the markup for me image
Now, I just need to get my raw wisconsin quarters slabbed with the leaf errors (oops....that not bullion crap...just modern crap...different thread image )

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

  • Bochiman I got mine from Mint Products dot com. Wished I had seen the thread here but they did pretty good by me last year. I did however have to send the 1st roll back....2nd roll was good. Judging from your report there's hope to get better quality if I return for exchange. Thanks for the feedbackimage

I have had 2 forum dealers looking for a pristine 05 SAE and your findings are consistent with theirs they are all bad so I am told.

  • I bought 4 rolls from 2 sources. 2 rolls had the top taped on, top did not fit snug, 2 rolls no tape, tops did not fit snug.

3 rolls rev showing on bottom of tube, 1 roll obv showing.

I opend 1 roll, then remembered the pain of reinsertionimage , looked at about 5 coins. No problem here,

but I wasn't looking for that hard to find ASE.

If I remember your BST post, you don't want that "spot" on the sun, right?
Mine have it (at least, 3 of them I looked at in 1 roll).

But, that spot does not preclude MS69 which is about the level I am going for in my sets.

So, you are looking for a tad more "pristine" than most of them are.....that doesn't mean that Jasbucks cannot get coins he is happy with (errr...excuse me....can't get "BULLION" he is happy with image ).

I just looked at the roll I bought. Only four had no scratches or dings.

  • Thanks everyone for chiming in. I'm going to return the roll I got; Seems there's hope for a better batch. I returned last years for that "sun spot" problem & the replacement batch was fine. It's really a shame these beautiful pieces are not the are they could be.
    Thanks again everyone!
