73-74 Topps Hockey Set

Hey Rob & all,

I just picked up a complete 73-74 Topps set-raw. I thought it was an OPC set when I first looked thru the binder because a good amount (about 60%) of the set has the ruff "opc" like cut on the right edge. They almost look as if they were partialy cut then pulled apart. Have you ever seen this before with the topps set? I got the set at a great price and was considering grading most but I can't tell if the cuts are factory. What do you think? I'll try to scan one later.

sounds weird to all the same rough cut only on the right side, didn't a lot of OPC have rough on various sides??? Maybe the cards got cut or roughed up during storage?

Actually as I looked thru the set to pick out a couple to scan, I noticed that the rough cut isn't always on the right necessarily. Some cards have it on the left or top and some cards don't have it at all. Alot of the cards are OC so it leads me to believe they aren't trimmed. They really look like OPC cuts. I scanned 2...see what you think. Thanks, Bob

scan didn't work for me. However, I had to mess around with my settings due to Ebay's new photo system. Can you try it again? If anyone else can see it, then I know it's my settings! Damn ebay!

I still can't view it, but if you can view your previous scan then the problem is on my end. Do you have it on www.imageshack.us?

Hey Bob do not know at all what this set could be. I would exercise caution when graded them. Just try a few for initial grading, be a shame to send in a large amount and PSA determines the cards to be trimmed. Also regarding the 73-74 set the paper used when initially produced is not the same throughout producition as the purchasing agent at the time had a lack of vision and did not order enough kind of like my bosses at my work. Love the Dryden #10 though great shot for the technology at the time.
