Card submission

If I want to submit more than one of the same card that I believe are around grade 9 level, am I better off submitting them separately? My fear is that if one of them is fractionally worse than the other the grades may come back 8 and 9 instead of two 9's. Feedback appreciated.

  • Submitting them together is fine. It will not change the out come.

  • The cards arent graded against each other. The grade is earned separately.

Wouldn't it be human nature though to grade the one slightly better with a higher grade, even though both meet the criteria of a certain level? I mean, I have a card with a very noticeable gum stain on the back with decent corners (far from perfect) and the card is a PSA 6. This surprised me and makes me wonder just how subjective this all is.

Your concern is legit. That's exactly why the whole grading thing is stupid. I like using for authentication purposes, but I value a card the way I think it should be regardless of what number someone else puts on it. I think grading is unaccurate, certain submitters get higher grades, and it has taken something away from the hobby. If every card ever submitted to PSA were taken out of the holder and resubmitted the discrepancies in the new grades would be millions and millions of dollars. Again, I like it for the authentication and I like it if I were going to sell a card, but I don't like the grading aspect.
