BOARD MEMBERS! What should I do???

Im having horrible luck with ebay. HEre is the situation:

bought a 3.99 1987 fleer basketball charles oakley....i had 10 bucks lying around and he was a bull..i thought what the heck....OK...so i won. Then i got busy and got around to mailing payment oh..3 days ago...about 8 days after I won. I get this email 2 days ago....stating:

You still owe me for Charles Oakley, 87 Fleer. I have been patient long enough. If payment is not received within 3 days, NEGATIVE FEEDBACK WILL BE LEFT.

the next day ...thats 1 day later....after getting that email....I GOT NEG'D.....

Why didnt I respond? well i had sent payment and he said 3 days..figured he's get it yesterday or today....and i was kind of pissed i was getting threatened and it hadnt even been 14 days past the end of the auction. Ok so i got neg'd. My first neg...143 pos, no neut or neg's....now 142 with a neg. So i checked out the auction and sure enough he wanted payment for his 4 dollar card in 5 days. MY BAD....totally my fault for not reading the auction requirements.....

SO i ticked this guy off by not immediately emailing him back ...but he said 3 days.....i was goign to email him prolly by friday after I cooled down.

My question...NOW HE IS GOING TO GET 10 BUCKS FROM ME...and what about the card???? He also has 100% pos feedback..about 264 pos, 2 neuts, and 0 negs. Should I wait till i get the card or money back, threaten retaliation with a neg??? what do you think??? strange situation....My fault....but his lack of patients is the real issue here and I hope he realizes that when payment arrives today!

by the way his name.....well ill give u a hint......he should have took a ZANTAC...maybe "2" of them...

  • Why dont you just email him and ask him? In the time it took you to write all this info in the forum you could have straightened out this situation.
    Just email him and explain.

    been done..no response...

  • That definitely sucks but I'm not sure that a negative for him is justified, especially if you receive the card as advertised. I've got a situation now where I have an auction that ended on 1/24 and have not received payment or any kind of correspondence from the winner. They have a 404 feedback rating with no negs so I don't really want to screw that up for a $2.13 card but you would just think I'd have gotten some kind of response from my e-mails. Makes you wonder if something bad happened to 'em....

hope things work out for you.

would COMPLETLY understand if it had been 14 days and multiple emails not answered...he didnt give me a chance to even cool down before i wrote...went against his 3 day warning and did it inless that 24 hours....im leaning toward negging him at this point...your point is well taken though as i do realize i should have have bit the bullet and apologized in an immediate email to him.

I resolve all problems like this over the phone... request his number from eBay and call him up. Much easier to deal with someone when you actually speak with them.

could you start the mutual agreement process to remove the neg? if he received his $$$ and you received the card, should be a no brainer. but if he's that impatient, he may not be willing to cooperate.

    good luck.

    Thanks,

    Communicate.
I buy and sell all the time, and am willing to cut buyers and sellers lots of slack as long as we are communicating.

And that means you and the seller too.

Now the seller leaped too fast in negging you. Dunno if he can withdraw it or not, but if poss I'd ask him to before you negged him back.

I see people get their panties in a twist all the time over small stuff. "It's not the money, it's the principle," is a very common excuse for bad behavior on the web.

Instead of assuming the worst, I assume the best - and I think you have to given the limitations of the media. Both you and the seller need to chill out and back away.

And you can cut/paste this and send it to him too.

you should ask him if it would be OK to pass by his house.

  • Just reply to the negative on your feedback. you know "card was 3.99, paid in full but was a couple days late. email me for any concerns" Welcome to the neg club. 100% positive is overrated anyway. I have nearly 500 positives with no neutrals, and 1 neg. my one neg was retalitory after i rightfully left a negative. make a comment on the neg and forget about it. i wouldn't neg him because he still waited almost double the time frame specified in the auction. this is another reason why i rarely buy anything that isn't paypal. too much hassle... and for a freaking 3 dollar barkley card?!

  • Aside from what has been said...5 days after auction? Jeez. That's awfully quick. Regular US mail is going to take a couple of days at t minimum to get there. He's setting himself up for lots of negative feedbacks with that.

  • Five days is too fast a turnaround time. However, if that's how fast the idiot wants his money then I guess you shouldn't bid on it. Since you did and then mailed a payment, I would say wait a couple of weeks to see if you get the card, if not leave the negative.

I always say payment due within 10 days, but I usually give people like 21 days to pay. It's annoying when it starts to reach around 15 days though. Sometimes it can cost a seller a lot of money to relist an item, because it was hot two weeks ago, but now it's stone cold.
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!

if he dont send card or money back...its mail fraud...considering he screwed me over id love to give the local district a call and let them know his practices...i think most police headquarters have internet divisions now worrying about child molestors and stuff...you know..cops posing as online people to nab them...at any rate...anyone know the bronx NY headquarters?? LOL

I will however give him a call before i would even think of doing that...

Go to advanced search, it is on the mid-left. I would tell him to mutually withdraw the feedback so you don't get a neg, you may have to neg him 1st.

    Hope this helps!
