Need help with value/identity of this coin...

My wife came home from work this evening and showed me a "strange" coin she received in change at lunch. I thought she'd show me a new nickel or quarter, but was I surprised when she showed me what appears to be a silver coin from Lima dated 1867!

On the obverse is a seated woman holding a staff and shield with rays. To her right, is a pillar inscribed "Libertad" with a wreath atop it. The legend around the obverse rim reads "Firme Y Feliz Por La Union." Below the seated lady is "5 (degreess) De Sol."

On the reverse is a coat of arms showing a lama, leaf, and cornacopia. Above the coat of arms is another wreath. Below the coat of arms are boughs of wheat and berries atop the date "1867." The legend around the reverse rim reads "Repub. Peruana Lima 9 D. Fino Y.B."

The coin would probably grade around VF.

Can anyone tell me more about this coin and give me an aprox value? What do the legends mean?

Thanks in advance.
