To link an auction hit the 'http' button, then type in the URL, hit ok, then type a label for your link.

    Auction Link

To link, copy the URL from your web browser. When you go to post the message, look on the toolbar right above the white field. Click on the http button, paste in the URL, and name the link.

I had to highlight this just to see it. They have it gray letters on gray background at the bottom.

"not all scans are of the actual cards for auction. In the cases where the card shown is not the actual, the actual is equal to/better than the one shown."

Scans are also cropped to close to see the edges and corners.

I know of at least one member of this forum who lives in Lubbock.
  • In white text with a white background:

"As stated 3 times above and now for a 4th time, this auction is for the 1953 Topps Archive Collection of 239 cards."

Somebody please report this guy to eBay.

    Just sent to the seller:

Hey--I see in your auction where you listed that this the 1953 Archives set. Conveniently it was done in white text against a white background. You want to remove the auction? Or should I go ahead and let eBay know about your scam? Clever that you used real '53 Topps pictures, too (also disclaimed that in white text).

Without following the link, and only seeing the title of this thread I can unequivocally say it's FAKE! image
  • AxtellAxtell Posts: 10,037 ✭✭
I, too, emailed the seller and notified ebay of this pathetic excuse of a seller.

People like this give all card sellers bad names.
  • looks like the archives or reprint set to me. Not an expert on that year, but they look too shiny. The seller has only a few buyer feedback and most of that is from one person. If you were to bid on the item and win, if he puts delivery confirmation on it you are stuck. I wouldn't touch it with a ten foot pole.
Running an Ebay store sure takes a lot more time than a person would think!

  • Don't the Topps Archive cards have Gold Embossed emblems on the front of the cards stating that they are Archive cards?

This definity seems like an auction to stay away from though.

This "clever" high school punk spent a lot of time putting this scam together. But he never anticipated something like the wrath of CU Forum members coming down on him. Nice job going after this little thief.

    Stone,

Would you pay $4300 for those fakes? The cross is not to scale.

The original 1993 reprint set did not have any gold foil on the front.

  • Mike,

Thanks, I have some Archive cards that have those emblems so I assumed that all the Archive sets had them.

How did you find the white text? If you highlight the area, you can find it, but how did anybody know to do that?

  • Honestly, you guys are just amazing. Not that I would've ever bid on it, but I'm sure there are lots of people who would get taken in. He's still up and running, by the way, at 7:00 p.m. Pacific time. If I would've been in a position to bid on this, I would've been taken in. Great job!! Keep up the good work.image Applause;

Just wanted to share the response e-mail I got from the seller.

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Thanks for your question,

Actually, the background was not white when I built the page and the white text stood out nicely against it. However, Ebay seems to have removed the <head> and <body> tags, the <body> determining what the color and background would look like. As you have made me aware of this, I have removed the auction so I can correct the error.

    Thanks again,

Mad monkey needs to fix his typewriter to prpoerly insert his HTML tags.

I don't know what's funnier - that picture or the fact that there really is a website called monkeysattypewriters.com.
