Would PCGS ever make a Multiholder "Grading Set"?

I think this would be an awesome idea.image The smaller coins 1c and 10c might fit in one multi-holder. The larger coins could be in several multi-holders. I am talking about the same series, same date and same mintmark coins.
You could be brave and submit raw or be safe and crossover PGCS graded coins.

Please tell me what you think out this. Thanks

  • Hey Paul - I think they already make multi coin holders like NGC - but they're only available to dealers right now - I've not seen one yet from PCGS.

Frank....I am well aware that PCGS makes a mulit-holder set.image
I was wondering if they would holder the same coin series, date and mintmark in different grades in a single mulit-holder.
I think it would make a great diplay and an excellent learning tool.
  • Ah - don't know about that - I know NGC does so I would imagine it's just a matter of time.

I will ask David HomerunHall on the Q&A forum.

Unless he wants to answer it on the US Coin forum.image
  • Yes PCGS does have a multi-coin holder. They first appeared in November of 2003 and at that time they were only used for proof gold eagle sets. Later they were ued for other coins as well. I know because I have one of them (Not the gold set). It is shown as PCGS 14 in my thread of all the PCGS varieties, and here is the obverse side again.

The grading set idea is a good one, but how are you going to make sure the get the coins in the proper hole order?

You are right conder101 sending in raw coins would be a problem and very labor intensive for PCGS. PCGS could only make multi-holder grading sets from coins that are already graded in the single coin PCGS holders. There are alot of collectors that already have the single coin holder grading sets.....PCGS could give them the option to reholder them into the multi-holder grading sets.
