Why all the excitement?
What does SP mean?
Are there auto's/game used?
The only thing I know is that they are today's players using Topps designs from the past. What year are the on now? 56?
If I go to my locl Walmart should I buy a box? What will the cost be?
I've seen some people mention "hobby" & "retail" boxes. What's the difference.
Thanks fellas.

Why all the excitement?More fun than anything 2.99 buys you.
What does SP mean? short print...usually there are 100 cards that pull 1:2 packs, they will book 5 a piece
Are there auto's/game used? oh yeah!
The only thing I know is that they are today's players using Topps designs from the past. What year are the on now? 56? yep 56
If I go to my locl Walmart should I buy a box? What will the cost be? 29.99 gets you 11 packs..hobby packs might be lower
I've seen some people mention "hobby" & "retail" boxes. What's the difference. in the past nothing besides the price. retail has
2.99 on the pack. There will be no cuts in the retail boxes
Good Luck
Kevin
It has just been the best modern baseball set for the past 4 years.
What does SP mean?
These are cards within the set that are short-printed either different variations or just simply fewer printed. Usually the last 100 cards are SP along with variations throughout the rest of the set.
Are there auto's/game used?
The game used selection is not the best, but the autographs are among some of the best offered by any sets. see other threads..

Correct 1956

Yes, retail blaster boxes run 29.99

Last year I don't remember there being much different other than SPs ran better in early retail boxes. The odds though are typicaly slighly better on Hobby boxes.
Are the auto's/game used all of modern players or are there old timers too? I think I remember seeing a post a few days ago where there were a bunch of cards with the 52 design and they were all autographed. They were all old timers too if I remember correctly. If you guys remember the post were they Heritage?
Joe what do you mean when you say there will be no "cuts" in the retail boxes?
Again, the insight and help you guys provide is awesome as always. Thanks.

Here this should help:

<< <i>So, since this is the virgin Heritage section, I just bought a hobby box on ebay which will get it to me for $61. I just got excited reading all the posts about Heritage. I figured that it was cheaper than Target would be. Did I do OK? Should I shoot myself in the head? Should I tell my wife? Anybody got a spare couch? >>
No - you did good! I have seen some sites at 70-80 bucks already and when this hits, it will be closer to 80-95 bucks.
The blister boxes of 11 packs for 29.99 is a bargin IMO if it follows last year and has 1 SP/pack!

<< <i>Thanks a ton Kevin. I've collected strictly vintage up until now but I'm going to take the plunge. I want a Laurin Pepper auto!

Heritage "plunging" can be very hazardous and not for the faint hearted. It requires serious planning, training, hours of tireless effort and most importantly a full tank of gas!
Hobby will be out Feb 16th and the retail about 10 days later (approx). Make friends with the Walmart and Target guys!

Sure!! And this one came from the Babe himself!
<< <i>Does "hobby" mean that card stores/dealers etc. only have access to these and then "retail" is released to the Targets/Walmarts of the world? Am I understanding those terms correctly? I can't walk into a Walmart and get a hobby box correct? >>
That correct - there are certain items like the 1/1 autos and special box topper inserts that only come with Hobby and purchased at a shop or on-line.

some new set that's out and they're selling. I thank them for letting me know its
out and usually find it cheaper on eBay.
1967and 1973 Topps baseball wantlists (any condition) welcome. Once had the #14 ATF 1967 set. Yet another collector like skylaneflyer, gimel1 who made it to the completion of 1967 only to need the money more than the company of 609 close friends.
Looking for oddball Norm Cash and Cleon Jones stuff, and 1956 team cards
There's obviously a lot of excitement and support regarding the Topps Heritage product. So how come no one has decided to build a PSA set from one of the years? Hasn't there been several issues? I would think after a few years that at least 1 person would have wanted to build 1. Am I wrong in thinking that a graded heritage set would be valuable to someone?
graded but why? Screwdowns are fine with me. I would imagine that these are tough cards to get high grades on.
Kevin
People who "register" a set are probably leaning toward the investment side which has been encouraged by low pops; high value commons and after the set is completed, in some instances, a nice return on investment and on to the next set.
IMO, although this set holds relatively nice value, it is a Collector Set where the end dividend was the fun of getting the product, opening the packs and completing the set with the assistance of your buddies on the boards!
Just my take

With the Heritage if collectors were to start grading them heavily you may create a situation like the 1950D Jefferson Nickel in the coin world. It was a very limited mint run and so many were hoarded that circulated versions are actually worth more than uncriculated versions.
