Heritage/Walmart/Target

I have gone in just a week from being dubious about all of the Heritage hype to planning on skipping work the MOMENT I hear that Heritage has arrived in retail and zipping around to every Target and Walmart I can find. image

win...I think we are the kids here!!

Walmart will get theirs first. If you do your homework you can find out when your particular walmart gets their cards in and you can be there
to suck them up. My first retail heritage of 04 came at about 1:30 at night!!

You mean for the pack searchers, when it hits here if I don't get it it will end up in the hands of a local dealer.

What kind of homework are we talking here? Calling the store and asking questions?

I go to the walmart and target employees and be as affable as possible and get them to help. They will know when they come in and when they will get around to stocking the shelves. I know my target vending rep by name! We talked for an hour one day....he was very helpful.

I have not had good luck with the managers, in general, as they are very busy and cards seem more of an annoyance to them. I also talk to the check out kids - sometimes you can find someone friendly who is dating Johnny the head honcho of the "underground" stockboys fraternity who will help.

Last year, I gave one of the kids a couple of movie passes that I keep in the office as presents. They then become your long lost buddy - but of course all my buds are gone this year and I'm back to square one!

At least here, the targets and walmart have them stocked up front by the end of the registers...and I was at target a few days ago, and it wasn't target employees who were stocking the cards, it was some outside guy. I didn't get a chance to ask him how he worked with target, but it seemed like he brought them in on his own to stock the shelves.
  • Target used to use Vintage as their distributer, not sure who it is now, but it is an outside company that does it. They are in my local store about 9am on Fridays.

we actually had a pack searcher stocking the cards for us here..can you believe that? You know somethings wrong when you are the
first guy into target in the morning and all you find is 23 count boxes! Luckily you can't feel short prints and you can't feel autos!!!

Target actually puts their cards in a holding area up front, many times on the side of the last, almost never used, register. Look for boxes
with a yellow rectangle on them. Those are it and you will be able to get the cards before they are put out. This is usually a way to one up
the pack slime. I hide them and buy a few at a time...this may seem unfair but I buy quit a bit throughout the year so I feel it is worth it. Make
sure you keep track of which packs come from which boxes..I often rip one box before I hid it and them put a small rip in the packs Im about
to buy so I know they are from that box, that way when if I pull a bunch of good stuff I can go on to another box..of course I almost always
    buy everything!

Of course it never hurt to make some manager friends!

Actually the 2004 BH was the 55B design; if it reference a 56 design it is from the 2003 B Heritage where they had the 1956 Bowman design of the year that "never was."
