I just noticed that the PSA Registry has over 12,800 sets while the PCGS (coins) registry has 12,900 sets.
for as long as the registries have been online PCGS has always have a superior number of sets at some points as thousands more sets than PSA.
Given the coin collecting is widly popular and probably has twice if not more collectors than sports cards, what does this mean?
are both registries reaching a plateu of sets?
are coins getting to expensive for people to even begin a set? is competition with NGC splitting the pool of sets?
are cards gaining popularity as a solid hobby in par with coins ?

Probably more odd ball card sets than odd ball coin sets,
and maybe us card guys are just more creative in coming up with new ideas for different types of sets.

Over here, you can register one card in many places: Regular set, Player Set, Team Set, Master Set, etc.
