By now, everyone here should know that I collect seated halves by die variety.......... I bought a couple of coins from a board member who was having difficulty getting them holdered at ANACS by variety........ Specifically, they are 1877 WB-102's........ Prior to my submission, they were designated R-8's !!!!!! Well, (in my best Gomer Pyle voice) SURPRISE, SURPRISE....... ANACS holdered them both !!!!!!!! I guess a cuppla more won't kill the rarity rating, but I'm guessing the # will drop to high R-7's after today !!!!!!!!

1877 WB-102 Hub variety 1/2 Transitional Die has one tail die.
The die was technically produced from the new tail Hub variety 2 but the die has the open bud(split berry) characteristic which ( distinguishes a Tail Hub variety 1.
What were the grades of the 1877 half dollars if you don't mind me asking?
