Will these dimes ever take off in popularity? Both seem boring but I need a couple of prime examples.

yuck!
<< <i>FC57, and JRocco...I hope you return those hideous dimes to circulation tomorrow >>
Have the prices, in general, gotten overly expensive in your esteemed opinions?
There is a group of Mercateers who actively collect these coins and PQPeace has quite a number of them for sale. The 40's short set can be a nice way to begin without breaking the bank. Enjoy!!
interest right from the beginning. Roosevelts have been widely collected but serious
collecting has mostly begun only in the last several years. The clad dimes are beginning
to get a much closer look but they still lag the other moderns. Not only are most of the
scarcest 20th century dimes among the clads but the scarcest high condition dimes are clad.

<< <i>Sorry, I just don't see them talked about that much. I am tempted to get into both but since I am new to the hobby I wanted to get some opinions. I didn't mean to ruffle any feathers.

We're just bustin your chops, man!
Roosies are very affordable in mint state (Gem BU SILVER sets go for $100-$200) and I think I just saw a roosies PCGS MS66 set (1946-64) go for about a grand on teletrade. Nicely toned examples (applies to any coin) adds another 10% to 500%+ to the market value depending on how nice one considers the toning to be.
A full set of mercs in Mint State, on the other hand, ranges in the thousands (especially for dates before 1936). Then, finding pieces with full bands usually adds a generous premium. A full set of full bands mercs in 65/66 would range from $400k-$800k!

No sarcasm. Mercs really are ugly. A Shriver looks better. Ugly deserves air time too.

Apropos of the coin posse/aka caca: "The longer he spoke of his honor, the tighter I held to my purse."
Woof!
Jrocco---she's a 66FB (from lucybop) I'm shocked I was able to swoop this piece. Technical grade and date aside, it's the finest coin in my entire collection (so far).
