1924 D Lincoln
Apropos of the coin posse/aka caca: "The longer he spoke of his honor, the tighter I held to my purse."
This is how I think...in 20 years what is going to be more collectable:
1. A 1924 d in a 20 year old PCGS holder.
2. A 1924 d in a 46 year old ANACS holder.
But, it's your coin now, so you alone get to decide what is the best for it. But just remember, every time someone resubmits one of those holders, yours becomes rarer

You are correct. I used to have many, many of these, but eventually sold them, or converted them to PCGS holders. Now I wish I'd kept them. The first ones came in B/W. But I also had some in color. Don't know exactly when they switched to color. I do know that they were still in B/W up thru mid-1986 or thereabouts. If exposed to lots of light, the photos faded out rather rapidly. Also, each side of the coin was graded separately.

Watersport, that is a third generation ANACS certificate and is a slightly tougher certificate. It was one of the last ones I was able to locate a specimen of. I know they were in use from 7/79 to 1/81 and may have been used as early as 3/79. To the best I know of, color was never mentioned on any of the certificates.
All of the ANACS certificates used black and white photos except the last one, ANACS 10. It was introduced in late1988 or early 1989 but the ANACS 9 and 10 certificates were undated.
<< <i>I always wonder why the dual grade is no longer done, it is more informative and accurate IMO. >>
I agree and the later ANACS certifiactes were even more informative. On the back of the certificate they break it down and give judgements on surfaces, luster, overall eye appeal, and give the obv/rev grades from all three of the graders. You get a lot more information than just a single number.
I love the way ANACS did that and I have this one example; a 1923 Peace
