Hockey guys.. Is it worth it..

Do you think this Fuhr RC is worth what it went for? What's the population like for it? I was watching it to the bitter end but ended up not bidding.

SMR on it is $225, with 4 10's out of 370 total graded. 109 have been graded as 9's.

Based on the above, I'd say yes it's worth it, however...seeing that this particular example has a diamond cut, I wouldn't have bid on it, as I have a problem with this one even getting a 10.

Very nice card! Definately worth the price. There are only four - Bill, Ray and who has the other two?

I think you paid too much for it Ray especially with
    the diamond cut.

What cracks me up is David's description on every card is
    This incredible, exquisitely centered

Everything is "exquisitely" centered. Who the hell uses that word?

I was so tempted to bid but I would just be paying for the grade. I like having my personal collection cards in SGC holders and I highly doubt SGC would give that a 98.

  • I would rather have that minor diamond cut then centering be 60-40 which would still be a PSA 10 !!
You know how many packs you have to open just to get that card? ALOT !!! Like usual centering and the OPC rough cut was still bad at that year.I also would have paid that for that card if i needed it.
Not all PSA 10 cards can be absolutely perfect, especially from back then. If you want perfect then you need to buy BVG/BGS cards cut from sheets !!! Also i must point out that there has always been less hockey produced then say baseball. There is very little wax boxes left and if you are lucky to find it then you will pay threw the nose.

A real gem 10 would be well worth $213. When I was chasing the Top Goalies set, around a year ago or more, 9s were going for about $60, so a 10 doesn't seem out of line. But on this one it doesn't look like the left edge is square with the top and bottom. And even if that's some kind of optical illusion the card just doesn't present well in general to my eyes. But for an OPC, you'd be hard-pressed to find better.
    WANTED:

Rare Grady Sizemore parallels, printing plates, autographs

    Nothing on ebay
  • I think that this card was worth the price I was a bidder but let it go b/c I have a problem with this set of cards - too many psa 10's exhist...too many unopened cello and wax packs/boxes/cases out there...in a couple years more and more 10's may become available of fuhr's rc. Plus this card does not compare to the other Fuhr psa 10 rc's (ive seen 2 others) the card should have gotten a 9, what does everyone else think?
  • I agree with 79 collector. There's alot of wax still out there for these 80's sets. Population will keep increasing probably bringing prices down. Go vintage baby! Bob
