Hohenzollern Loins

produced at least one good thing. Princess Victoria Luise.
This zinc medal is kind of spooky, though. Meant to commemorate VL's work with children, the outer rim (forgot the numismatic term) shows heads of little children turns towards the princess. Unfortunately, it looks like something out of a horror movie!

Neat item. The babies heads remind me of something out of Dante's Inferno, though.

very cool - The uniform color is good for a zinc coin(medal) - sometimes they get real blotchy.

It does look like an unintentional death medal, doesn't it? image

Normally I like things with babies on them, but the baby at 12 o'clock gives me the heebie-jeebies! Very interesting!

I agree, I wish I could see it larger-must be a trick of the light?image

Not quite a trick of the light. The eyes and mouth are quite deep set. I suspect that the effect was more natural when the medal was fresh, in 1915.
