Coin collector needs help (warning - 10 images) Are these cards worth anything?

Hello all, this is my second venture into this forum. The first came several months ago when I asked your advice on some eBay auctions that my stepson was looking at. Some of you offered to send him some cards. I considered this for a while but never acted on it because I'm trying to instill in him the desire to put forth a little effort for things he wants. I also did not want my post to be perceived as one looking for handouts. Thanks to those of you who did offer, though.
Now for my latest - I recently moved and came across a dozen or so cards that I got from my uncle, I think more than thirty years ago. I know absolutely nothing about cards at all. Can you tell me if any of these are worth anything? I'm not looking to sell, just want to know if I should use them for coasters or invest in a safe-deposit box. Obviously some of them have been bent, which I'm sure affects the value, if there is any to begin with. Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to give.

"What are you putting that tape on your nose for?"
"Exactly."

Charlie,
My answer would be neither. Based on the condition of the 5 cards they would probably fetch about $40 if put on eBay individually so the safe-deposit box is really not an option. On the other hand, there's no reason to just dispose of them. They might make a nice present for your stepson to introduce him to some vintage material.
The Gehrig is one of the cards that my father gave me and it means a lot more to me than what I could sell it on eBay for.

Your own collectibles are much more durable. It's hard to crease a coin! I guess that's why I prefer cards. A baseball card needs a lot of TLC -- and luck -- to survive 40 or 50 years without creases or worn corners.
But coins have their own standards for how well they survived the ages. I still have some totally NOT uncirculated 19th-century coins from childhood that I might put out on eBay sometime.
"Exactly."
That need to open pack of cardbaord gold can be pretty addicting. I find myself having to open at least a couple of packs a day.

Yep, I could see where that could be MORE addicting, which is why I stuck to the coins. The wifey only gives me so much allowance

My wife does not do that BUT when those heavy boxes filled with PSA's come and they sit on my desk awaiting scanning she just shakes her head, with a smile of course

My wife's head shake is preceeded by "YOU PAID HOW MUCH FOR A NICKEL?!?"
"Exactly."
