She needs to return to the store and raise a ruckus about getting "the other 3/4 of a penny" back image

How amazing is it? I'm surprised we don't get more given the inexpensive cost to travel to Europe and the rest of the world.

Or is it the fact that people hang on to World coins as souvenirs or that dollars are worth less?

  • I have actually spent farthings (as pennies) and shillings (as 10ps) on purpose before... it's been a fair while, but i think i should drop a few more farthings into circulation.

No that's not one of my old specimens either, before you ask!
  • I didn't know your wife had a time machine image

Otherwise, it's a very ingenious way to dump farthings for 1 cent apiece image

I used to dump the occasional farthing into circulation in the hope of inspiring potential collectors.

Not because i wanted to rip a shop off by 1p... ultimately it's probably the same thing, but really the shop would be making a bit of a profit, say a circulated farthing sells for 10p, they've made a 9p profit from that! So they should actively welcome it! image
