I can actaully remm watching this series on TV (after listening to most of it in class by way of a radio) Running home (faster then the bus) and catching the last innings on the tele....ahh to be 9 yeaqrs old again! I remm watching as the Cardinals in celebration jumped on one another and asking my father why they were doing that. His reply? The world series money! A different time.........

Steve, agreed! What a nice card that is - captures a great time in baseball history perfectly. I know you are working on the 65 set - I am working on different sets (68) for the same reason, as reminders of a simpler, classic era.

Great card! I have a few action Mantles - they're the best since they "freeze" a moment in time that makes the card speak to ya!
This couples well with my last post about collecting for the enjoyment and relating to the pieces of cardboard in your hand. There's so much info at your fingertips today - take an old card and look up the player - then look at the card again - I promise, it will speak to you...will become just that much more a part of your collection IMO.
Sorry to be on the soap box today.

thanx for sharing the card and the story Steve

    Thanks for posting it.

All I remember about that series is Bob Gibson
