HELP I got an odd nickel this morning

its a 1997P nickel. ill try to get pics up. the strike is weaker than a normal nickel and grainier. the sound it makes is a little higher pich compared to the regualr 97 nickels. also instead of having an edge of the coin that is flat its rounded. its a wierd looking coin from the side and i was wondering :

Mint error?
Fake?
After Mint modification?

it looks too perfect to be a done in circulation but im wondering, if i didnt know better id say it was struck on a token of some type cause of how perfectly rounded the edge is

Without seeing it, it sounds like the coin was exposed to intense heat.

Need some good quality pics to give any semi-informed opinion/answer to your question. Wouldn't consider even a guess til then.
