no more green labels

I joined PCGS lasty year at gold level. Ididn't have any raw coins to grade , but had some old pcgs green labeled coins that i wanted regraded. My green label coins came back with the same grade but in a new holder with a shiney blue label.

They used to use the same labels when the grade stayed the same IF you requested it in big letters on the submission form. But the last
two submissions I sent in, not only did they NOT use the same labels, THEY CHANGED THE CERT# and the grades stayed the same! That
    really ticked me off.

made the same mistake myself. At this point my opinion is that it is better to hang on to the old holders, esp the green tag ones. Unless you just bought a fresh deal off the market for 7 years for more, leave those alone. They bring a nice premium at auction and on ebay and it will likely only get stronger down the road. First gen and other pre-1992 holdered coins should be cherished the same way. Whether technically worth it or not, they tend to bring good premiums that you will lose once you crack out. Get plenty of advice and opinions on older holders before you crack them. If you have a concensus that is very strong that you have an upgrade you can safely go that way. Many dealers will pay for that upgrade in that old holder. You may not get 100% of the upgrade, but possibly 50-75%. And at auction, if only 2 people out of say 20 feel convinced your coin is an upgrade, it will bring close to the full upgrade price.

Unless you are a pro-grader, or won the world series of grading as a collector (TDN), better to leave them alone.

Its a shame they won't take the little extra bit of care required save and reuse the old cert tag on a reholder only service.

So many collectors consider the green labels "tightly graded" but I wonder if someday those slabs will be considered as ones being "not overgraded".

Paul, you apparently bought the hype and lost your free submissions as a consequence.
