How common are ANA slabs?and how would u rate the grading?

I was just wondering, was at one of my local coin shops today and was browsing around(left neices b-day party for a few minutes15-20), and 1st off they had 2 very nice toned American Eagle bullion pieces. I bought the 87 because I thought the toning was great and always wanted a nice dark toned one anyways(i'll post a pic when I get my new camera.)but what really caught my eye was a funny looking slab sitting on thebottom shelf. I asked if I could see it, and to my surprise it was a ANA slab(1949D Franklin ms64) and by no means do they interest me, but looking at this one more closely it had strong FBL'S and a nice dirty look to it probably a mottled tone to it. So i guess my ? is did ANA designate FBL on their holders? and how would a ANA grade hold up to a crossover to PCGS or NGC. Like I said before Frankies don't interest me much but there is something to this one that really grabs me, and I might go back tomorrow and take harder look at it.

Thanx

I've recently picked up an 8tf morgan and a cameo franklin in the old ana holders, and the grading for those two was pretty conservative...... plus they were both nicely toned! image If I see any more of those holders, I will be trying to pick them up.....

Old ANACS (When they were operated by the ANA) slabs aren't all that rare, though do to the conservative grading at the time, many have been cracked out and resubmitted.

If you are referring to the old ANA (pre-ANACS) slabs, I had one with an 1805 dime, once. It was graded F12. It was a bit weak for the grade, but not way off. I think I sold that one to BigD5.
