Heritage--JH exceptional???

What is the deal with those "JH Exceptional" coins on the Heritage page? Sometimes I see two coins of the same type, same date, same mintmark, same grade, same (or similar) price....you'd think only one of them could truly be described as "exceptional"... image

That means that Jim Halperin thinks the coin is primo for the grade.

I have a hard time with those pieces. From the internet images, I'm not very impressed.
Perhaps one day I need to get one with a return privelage, hold it in hand, and see if I agree with him.

Heritage has got to be one of the worst at pics for the internet.

I see much better photography on these forums.

JH Exceptional IH's were worth looking for a few years ago, especially common date PCGS MS65RD IH's. You had to snipe their weekly inventory listings to nab them. Every one I bought was solid-to-PQ for the grade. The higher IH prices went the lower the JH standards fell, and I can't remember the last time I looked at their inventory.

For what it's worth, this piece was labelled "JH Exceptional" as a PCGS AU-58:

It's nicer and "older" looking than the image makes it seem as there is a nice silvery/gray sheen over the whole coin, but the picture can't capture it well since the luster busts through. Since others have (rightly) commented on Heritage's pictures, here's the picture they took of it:
