design set registry question

seems to me that the the design set registry is only a slightly scaled back version of the complete type set(regarding its entries). I would think that the whole idea of design type is that one coin with an identical(or nearly identical) design would suffice to represent the overall design. Consider 7 denominations of draped bust, 4-capped bust, 6-seated liberty, 3-Barber. Seems that one of each would do just fine.

If PCGS would create a "minimalist" design type,. would this raise havoc with the weighting system? Wouldn't this result in a more easily attainable registry set for those on a limited budget?

No, the weightings, as usual, would be determined by the PCGS dart board.

Yes, and they should implement it. (Make it a Q&A question to David.)

Just go here LINK, and post your question. It won't appear unless/until David answers it on Tuesday evening.

After re-reading your post, I noticed you did say different denominations. Sorry ... now I understand what you mean.
