Lost Cards?

I'm deciding if I should send cards in for grading for the first time. Is it just me, or is it scary to put 10 of your highest valued cards in the mail? Has anyone had any bad experience regarding lost cards? Any suggestions? I live in Connecticut so hand delivering isn't an option.

Thanks,

Steve

    Hi Steve
If you "register" your mail, it goes under a lock box from point A to B with the PO. My postman says it's the best and almost never is anything lost.

  • I guess the lack of responses to this post means that there have been no (few) problems? Thats good to know.

  • I've never had any issues with PSA receiving my cards. The only scary part is knowing they should have been there and logged, only to find out they are there and not logged, getting the clock started.
I've sent tons of cards worth some coin with no problems ever. (Knocking on wood!)

  • Wouldn't insurance cover all bases? If you could buy all of your cards again for $1,000 and you insure it for $1,000... Wouldn't it not matter if they get lost or not?

It could but Postal insurance can really be a pain on anything over 50.00, many times not even paying if delivery can be proven.

Registered mail is by far the safest as stated it is kept under lock and key and everyone who handles the package while in the post office has to sign for it.

  • A couple of years ago I bought a membership for my father. He sent in his 6 free submissions and the post office stated that PSA received the cards. Approx 9 months went by before PSA found the cards and returned them to him. They were returned not graded because his free certificates were expired. At least he got his cards back.

Man thats suxz, You would think PSA would have graded them anyhow seeing that it was their mistake.

  • Send them registered & insured for what you feel the replacement value would be. That way it's shipped securely and it's covered just in case. This is also PSA's recommendation on their submission guidelines page. Sent mine on 01/26 registered & insured and they were logged in at PSA on 02/01. Cost was around $12.00.

Good luck with your submission, Bob

  • I thought they should have graded them as well but they didn't. He will never send in cards again. I have sent in 4 orders with no problems. I am just glad he got the cards back. I keep trying to get him to let me send tham in with an order but I do not think it will happen.

Believe he should have gotten his membership fee back as well. I would have fought them on that one.
