2004 SP Legendary Cuts ?

Anyone opened much of this? I'd like to get a couple of boxes off Ebay but am wondering if it's worth it.

  • I cracked 1/2 a case, and pulled a Bob Johnson cut auto, #1/34 and an Ernie Banks Prime Patch #d 10/25. Also got a ton of game used swatches, from berra, Munson, Mattingly. I enjoyed this product.
  • how many boxes were in a case?

I was disappointed w/ the football 04 product. I busted an entire case and the best card I got was a walter payton gold jersey. No cuts/auto's. As I've said before, it's funny how some of the larger dealers have dozens of these cuts on their table at the shows I've been to. If I broke a case and pulled zilch - how many would they have to bust to pull dozens? Here I go on the "card comapnies favoring large dealers again"....

I think it's either 12 or 16 boxes in a case (you can check out ebay or online card shops). The problem with buying a box or two is that there's a good possibility the case card (the cut auto) has been pulled. You never know, but if you'd buy the box looking for the auto, I think your odds are lower than what's stated on the pack. Beyond that, you won't get a complete base set out of a box, or even 2 boxes most likely. The common autographs might make it worth it, but chances are you won't get more out of the box than if you spent a similar amount on singles. But there's the thrill-of-the-rip factor that's worth something.
