To say thanks to all the great folks on these boards, I've decided to do something most of you have wanted us to do for a looong time. Sure, it's not a $10,000 coin but it's still one of the coolest kennedy half dollars I've ever seen.
The contest will be "Guess the Grade!" It won't matter who gets it right, every entry will be a name in a hat from which I will pull the winner, but the ones who got the grade right will get two names in the hat, increasing their odds.
Ok, Grade the Kennedy and answer these questions in this order on your post. The kennedy pictured is the one that you will win. I will post the grade and winners tomorrow 02/03/2005 before noon.
Is it graded by PCGS, NGC, ANACS, ICG, or is it Raw? (correct answer gets one chance in the hat)
What is the numeric grade/net grade? (correct answer gets another chance in the hat)
What is your all-time favorite word and why? (ok, this is just for style points but the best one will get 2 chances in the hat.)
Ok, the cointest is over. Three members nailed the grade/service right on the head. One came close with the grade but missed the service.
mikebombs: NGC MS63
TUMUSS: PCGS MS63
Hedger: PCGS MS63
highvizballs: PCGS MS63
Everyone who put a fav word got an extra name in the hat, the 4 above got an extra name in the hat + an extra for the fav word. I had about 200 pieces of paper in that darn hat, well, more like a bag. Anyways, I pulled out a name and the winner is.....................ccdragon.
ccdragon, please PM me your address so I can send you the coin.
Very Very Cool. This was quite fun. I think that we might start making this a regular thing. Once a month giveaway of some coins in our inventory.
This one's for you Eric, since you don't fancy the shot I took showing the color.

I think it would look a lot better without the diffused lighting.
Favorite word: abecedarian, because it's a great word to describe a newbie.

The coin is NGC certified MS-66*.
My favorite word is flagellum because it sounds extremely wrong and is part of a micro-organism.
Thanks for the chance!

My favorite word... Hmmm, I would say love because without it life would be bereft of any joy or delight.
"Seu cabra da peste,
"Sou Mangueira......."

Superfluous, Just because it's often so appropriate.

I'll guess the coin is raw.
The cheek is clean but there is some strike weakness on the reverse on the eagle's head and the lower shield. Grade: MS66
Favorite word: Superfluous. The word sounds neat saying it and it defines itself! It means wordy. If you use a word like superfluous you are being wordy.
I didn't steal the favorite word from the above poster. I starting writing my post before anyone else posted. Then I had to talk to my boss before I could finish. I can't believe someone else chose the same word as me. At least I defined my word. Some people are misspelling thier favorite words Avuncular has 2 u's, not 1.

Dichotomy...because it taught me a lot about life, and human nature.
I'll say the coin was graded by ANACS, and that it graded MS66
My favorite word? Antidisestablishmentarianism----some one told me it was the longest word in the Oxford dictionary.
MS65
EDITED because I forgot to add my favorite word: hierarchical
I used to love having my Cisco students try to pronounce it!
NGC ms66
My favorite word is parsimonious, because it describes my approach to acquisition of coins, and because you have given me my first opportunity to use it in a sentence.
Apropos of the coin posse/aka caca: "The longer he spoke of his honor, the tighter I held to my purse."
al h.
word: 'groovy' because it's kewl
Service - NGC
Grade - 66
My favorite word: It's hard to pick because there are so many good ones, but I'll go with hysteresis. The thermostat controlling your heating or AC would constantly go on and off without hysteresis (which is the only time I was ever able to use the word).
My posts viewed times

When talking about coins liberty is my favorite word because I like the coin designs with liberty the women on it.
2). MS-64 I think the bag marks below the Ear and weak reverse drop it down. ( Maybe a star, but not sure it is NGC, and don't want to blow it if it is PCGS or ANACS)
3). Word- Tintinnabulation, because it is an excellent example of onomatopoeia.
Thanks for the chance(S?)!!!!!

An error does not become truth by reason of multiplied propagation, nor
does the truth become error because nobody will see it. -Mohandas K. Gandhi (1869-1948)
And my favorite word... "Daddy", because of the two little girls I get to hear say it every night when I get home from work.

calamari: sounds neat and when folks realize what they are eating when you tell them what it is, never fails to bring on a pained expression.

I would say NGC MS65*
Favorite word is nookie (can I say that here?)....I don't think I can explain it though and it should be self-explanatory
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

schadenfreude has always been my word also. In grade school we were toll that every feeling has name. So I describe that feeling and the teacher said there was not a word for it. "But you just said every feeling has name" was my response. Bingo, wrong answer, after class see me please little Johnny. It was years later I found the word while drinking with a man from Holland. Then I forgot it and had to find it again by asking for it on the Open forum. Spell it on demand, no way, but I know its out there if I had to find it.
