What to do about the fingerprints

on the upper leaf WI quarter? Can they be removed without hurting the coin? I just received a three coin set from a seller on Ebay who obviously doesn't collect coins. I wouldn't be so irritated by this if it wasn't something I really wanted!image The lower leaf doesn't seem to have any on it and I'm gonna spend the
no leaf quarter. image I have emailed the seller to see if he has another to possibly trade, but as of yet he hasn't contacted me. I'm mad at myself over this also. I never buy raw coins on ebay, but I just had to have this (yeah yeah yeah desire over ruled the brains) and the seller didn't have much in the way of feedback. The only smart move made in this situation seems to be my payment, which was made with
a credit card, so I could reverse charges if the deal went south. Comments please. I'll take the beating also....image

  • I may end up having to try it. Thanks
  • Get some 100% pure acetone from Home Depot or your local hardware store.
Careful you don't drip some on your fine solid cherry executive desk.. like I did image

Is the desk still considered "fine" "F" now that you have dropped acetone on it. Or, has it been downgraded to "good" "G"?
  • My methods for cleaning coins:
    1) Acetone is safe, as has already been mentioned
    2) Sell the coin and replace it with a better one. I don't dip coins (anymore image), it's bad for the hobby, not to mention the coin image

The acetone should work well with the recent print. Just use PURE acetone & rinse w/water. It won't hurt the coin.

Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.

  • If its a new print soap and water may work as well.
  • Acetone, quick dip, rinse well, dry without rubbing... should be fine. Don't leave it in the acetone very long. Clad coins can change color if left very long.

    has been restoredimage!!!

The desk went to VG when my wife dropped a chair on it. It now a strong G.
One day I will take the top down to the shop and turn it back into a F image
