LUCANIA, Herakleia . Circa 300-250 BC. ? Obol (8.63 gm). THRAKLEIWN, two figures of Herakles standing left, each holding a patera in right hand and a club over left shoulder / Athena standing left, sacrificing from patera over a flaming altar, holding spear in left hand; shield and torch behind. Van Keuren 166; SNG ANS 100; BMC Italy pg. 233, 56; SNG Copenhagen 1138; SNG Morcom -; Laffaille -. VF, dark green patina, much nicer than the other published specimens. Ex CNG Triton V, Lot: 59.January 2002, Ex David Freedman Collection of Greek Bronze Coins.
