Anyone see anything unusual about this GSA on ebay?

Saw this on Ebay....

I thought the toned Morgans only made in the cases marked "Silver Dollar" not the Uncirculated catagory cases.....

Ebay GSA

Am I missing something or did toned Morgans make into the "Uncirculated Silver Dollar" cases...

Have a non cc in uncirc. gsa holder that has some toning on the reverse.

  • I've seen a number of uncirculated GSA's with toning. Some of it was very attractive. I am sure that when the coins were packaged, the mint workers weren't as careful as we would have liked. Look at all of the toning that can be found in mint sets that are still in the original packaging.

That's the first toned one I've seen in an "Uncirculated Silver Dollar" case. Come to think of it, though, I don't think that I've ever seen toning like that on a GSA in any case either.

It looks like it toned in the holder, the color is very close to the same color as the GSA slab, not Bag Toned IMHO.

    I agree with Scott
  • Susan,
It's not that the coin is in a GSA case, but it's in a "Uncirculated Silver Dollar" case.

Like Tassa, I myself have never seen a toned GSA in a "Uncirculated Silver Dollar" case, I have seen them only in cases marked "Silver Dollar".

If anyone has one, please post it....Maybe It's a learning day for me..

    Thanks

I think TonedCoinTrader is right. The pattern is similar to album toning.
  • I have seen a few toned dollars in the Uncirculated holders but they are not very common.

This is the first toned one I've seen in the "uncirculated" GSA slab, but I've seen a couple very high grade coins in the GSA slabs without the uncirculated designation. So my guess is that the ladies made a mistake on this one.
