You would think that if somebody would spring $150K for the coin, the seller would throw in s/h/i ! Nope, it'll be an extra $17 and change!

Wow and I thought my Pics were good...image
  • I used eBay ask seller a question to ask
"If I buy this extremely rare and valuable coin will you ship for free?"

    He replied
"First I need to know if you are serious about this or not.If you are then sure."

I wish I knew more tricks for messing with people, I haven't read up enough on 419eater.com yet, though it's not quite the same. Maybe I'll reply back and offer to buy, send Western Union, email him pics of my (fake) receipt and get him to spend time going there asking for money. Anyone have a better idea? or should I just let this moron be?

It would take a REALLY crappy scanner to produce images that bad. Any bloke with a cheap digital camera can photo coins that badly though.

smart move , why pay $17 for postage when you can pick it up yourself? These threads bring out the ingenious ideas of us all image

    Marc
  • Well as you know $17 is $17 .... Gotta save it when you can .. No telling when deals like this come along ..
  • That can't be a scan. I don't know of any scanners that have a date/time stamp on them. It must be a photo.

I've examined the jpgs via high density scanning techniques, and the coin may well be legit.

From what I can make out however, this is not a Lincoln Steel cent. This is an early Alaskan Seal cent.

    Very rare.
