Well, I was finally able to take good scans of the Thornhead coins I found last week. What do you all think? Wanna guess on grades?

Thanks, Richard.

EDITED: It took forever, but I finally posted the second image requested of the 21P and the "other wing". See the last image in this post. Thanks.

Don't know this one. Note the action around the wing and along that area. Maybe nothing major, but cool looking in hand. Obverse just as cool. image

  • Rampage,
You know I love those 1921-S VAM-1Bx VAMs. For others interested in seeing the thornhead vams, check out my page here:

As for the 1921-P, I'm pretty sure it is a VAM-3P I've got one out for grading or I could confirm the die cracks. Perhaps someone else has an example.

    Good hunting!

  • Congrats again on finding those. Since I saw your previous thread, I must have checked fifty or so 21-S Morgans looking thorn heads. Nice pictures too.

Edited for Grade: I'm still a newbie... but I'd say XF and VF+.

    Thanks all,

These are actually scans. Sometimes I can get the scans to turn out right, and others, not so right.

    Richard.
  • Richard, may I see a close-up of the other wing??

Does it have a dot under the ST in trust next to the wing??

I was told by the seller that the pic below is a 3P.

Nice. Just curious if that is the orginal color in the first scan.

Yes, that is the original color. Rather I should say it looks to be original. I have many Morgans with that type of color. Why do you ask?

    Updated with a new picture.
  • Thanx for the pic, Richard.

Doesn't look anything like what was sold to me as a 3P

If your 21P is a VAM3p as per Rob, then what do I have ??image

Not bad at all. The 21S coins graded as you stated, XF (XF45) and VF+ (VF30). Thanks. image
