Hi From Another Newbie

Just wanted to chime in and say Hi before I started posting on all the other threads. I have been lurking for a while now and have decided it is time to take the plunge. I have been away from the Hobby for about 12 years and am now starting to pull out my collection and go through everything. Its really fun to look at cards taht you do not really remember seeing ever before in your collection. My last project was a 55 Topps BB set in ex+ and before that was a 73 Topps BB set in exmt+. Other sets I built were 58T, 54B, 54B FB, and 59T FB. My real ambition though is for off the wall wierd stuff. Had been working on the Armour Coins sets and some hostess panel sets.

On top of all that, I was just starting to get into vintage autograph collectiong before I got out of the hobby 12 years ago. I have about 340 different autograghs From players from the 20's through 50's or 60's including many HOF'ers. My collection is all on 3x5 index cards and there is heavy duplication. I collected almost all of these cards in 2 large purchases from fellow collectors who attained them back in the 50's eaither through the mail or in person, so I am quite certain of their authenticity for the most part. I will be looking to sell a lot of the duplication on these in the near future so if anyone has a want list, or knows of a good resourse on the internet for vintage autograph collectors, please let me know, as I have not been able to find a good one yet.

I have lots of questions about PSA/DNA but will save them for another thread and leave this as an intro.
Thanks, Ken

    Welcome Ken!!
I like autos also and would like you to post some scans when you get the chance. My most recent pick up is an group auto ball with KiKi Cuyler on it.
Good luck and I look forward to seeing some of your stuff.

  • Hi Ken - welcome to the insanity!!!

My best advice is to lurk in the hobby awhile (sounds like you've already done that), until you get comfortable with seeing all the new "stuff" in the hobby - good and bad!

I would echo stone, in that I'd love to see some auto's sometime. Definitely get them authenticated...I think it's worth it in the long run!

Good luck! - "...God made us brothers, Prozac made us friends...."

  • Boy, were just so friendly here at the collectors universe. I too would like to welcome you to this very informative board. I too am a relatively new member of this board and have seen just how helpful it can be.

So you like collecting Bowman or topps. Which you like better football or basketball. Do you have any cards you wanna scan because I would like to see those. Thibs
