GOETZ: K-219 Town & Country

K-219 TOWN AND COUNTRY (Stadt und Land), 1919, Cast AE, 58.5mm, wt. 69.1g, UNC.

This is a lightly teasing statement by Goetz about the disparity between the producer and the consumer.

Obverse: Inscription ‘Town”. In town a line of hungry people wait in front of a butcher shop to get their assigned food rations.

Reverse: Inscription “und land” In the country a fat farmer sits at a table, while his heavy-set wife brings a steaming bowl of food. Under the table, a cat is licking milk that the town children are lacking.
