His family bought him a $250 bag of uncirculated quarters to use in slot machines. Yeah, right..... image

That's an instant $50 loss + whatever he loses on the machines (probably $250 if playing long enough).

    I don't (and won't) buy it.

Plus, if he's not much of a collector, how did he know about the extra leaves? It could happen but I doubt it is news outside of the "Coin World".

  • What's wrong with it ???

    He is in Tuscon ....
He really doubts there are any of the error Wisconsin Quartes in the bag ..
I haven't really followed this WI quarter thing. Is it really 100% impossible that maybe a few CAN'T be in the bag ???
    OR
    Just very highly unlikely ????

WHY ??? Is this particular auction viewed as a SCAM ???

If he comes up with bag after bag .. THEN ...

BUT on this one auction I don't see it ...

He's a casino slot junky .... Why is someone that gets quarters suspect ... I have given rolls of quarters, dollars etc as X- Mas gifts ... Whats the differance if he got $250 cash and went to the casino and purchased quarters with it ????

Too many people see something out of possibly nothing .. I bet I could look at anyones auction and make it look like a scam ...
The facts are there and if someone wants to take a chance on what the seller even states as his "DOUBTS" why a scam ???

Maybe reading these things is making me too pessimistic. I looked at the guys sales and he hasn't really sold much, ever. It does seem to be sincere, especially since he was smart enough not to put them in to a slot machine.

I guess the misleading part is being inferred by the bidders. Does a bag shipped to Tuscon have any higher chance of having extra leaf quarters? Probably not.

Did the original discoveries in Tuscon also come from a $250 bag? I don't know. Anyone remember?

BTW, I don't think it's a scam. Just misleading. I think the seller's own admitted doubts sort of get him off the hook for that. It's up to the buyers to decide if the Tuscon connection actually means anything.

  • So far none of the extra leaf coins have come from mint sets, roll sets or in any of the bags sold by the mint. At least none have been reported.

The extra leaf quarters came from bank rolled quarters in the Tuscon area. This is a bag of quarters ordered from the Mint, probably shipped to the seller from Memphis. It is almost certain there are not extra leaf quarters.

The seller is misleading people into thinking they are "Tuscon" quarters when they are quarters from the Mint shipped to Tuscon, and now will be shipped to the sucker who wins the auction. image

  • << <i>The seller ended this listing early because the item is no longer available for sale.

Maybe he'll relist it as "Sold out at Mint."

Or he will soon have 25 rolls of "Tuscon Wisconsin Quarters" for sale and claim they came from a Tuscon-Based bank.
