You're talking about a VG-F coin that may be worth something slightly over melt value. You could probably find another in a dealer's junk box that isn't stained like this one for probably a little bit over melt prices.

That coin looks like it's already been cleaned within an inch of its life, so I wouldn't see any harm in cleaning it a little more to remove the splotchy spots. I don't know if they'd dip off, though- they look like the sort of stains that it might take toothpaste or baking soda to remove.

You could leave it alone and hope it tones a bit darker and "evens out" a bit. But since it's really only a bullion-value piece, you could carry it as a pocket piece. After some time as a pocket piece, the coin might actually look a little more "natural", if you know what I mean. I personally would clean it again (as gently as possible) and hope it retoned more evenly over time, or just carry it as a pocket piece for a while.

I wouldn't bother cleaning it again........ just spend it somewhere!

If it was cleaned it was about 20 yrs ago. My aunt had it stored away for that long. I'll just let it be. Thank you all for the info.
