Ethics

A dealer, who you do not do business with, offers a coin on his website for $1000, that Greysheets for $2000, and Trends/retails for $3750. You know the retail price because you just bought one. It is probably a mistake. What do you do?

A. Tell him that there is probably an error.
B. Buy the coin for $1000.
C. Anything else

Sorry, I do not know how to do polls. It will be interesting to see how dealers and collectors differ in their responses.

  • I would be inclined to ask if something was wrong with the coin. It seems to me a dealer would not make this type of error.

Buy it. A dealer is in it for business and wouldn't hesitate to do it to an unknowing seller. (At least most of them wouldn't)

It's probably an error that the dealer will detect prior to consummating the transaction. So, I vote "C". Let us know what YOU did.

I'd ask for a description of the coin. You can tell then.

A - there is no good reason that someone (whether a non-dealer or dealer) should take advantage of what appears to be a listing/pricing error.
