PSA/DNA question

I just recieved a card that I sent in for PSA/DNA, on the submission form I specifically only requested for it to do authentication of the autograph but not to have the card itself graded. As it turned out, i got my card today, not only it is PSA/DNA graded, they also designated the grade PSA 9 for me. Why do they do that? I thought in order for the PSA/DNA item to be graded condition-wise also must be accompanied by the normal PSA submission form. I only paid for the $20 fee for the signature authentication, so basically they gave me a free PSA grade? i am wondering if anyone else have similar encounter
