Opinions Requested - 1928 Peace and 1872 Seated Dollars

Hey folks, my brother and his wife came across these two in a collection from her mother's estate. He and I would like to hear opinions on the condition. I have mine but I am by no means a Peace or Seated expert.

  • I'd call the Peace Dollar an AU-50 cleaned. The Seated Dollar I'd call an EF-40.
The strangest things seem suddenly routine.

The Seated Dollar looks like a nice XF coin. The Peace Dollar appears to be a lightly cleaned, high grade AU example.

How are we going to have any good fights if we all agree with each other? image

The 1872 is EF45 OR EVEN AU50. I like it. The 28 Peace Dollar is a dog because it was hairlined by a cleaning. It is a BB candidate and would be net graded by ANACS. Sorry, but I am just calling it the way I see it.

  • The 1928 is AU-53 but may have too many hairlines for a grade at PCGS, the 1872 is EF-40,
also cleaned but not as harshly.

  • Unfortunately, both are cleaned. Nice coins but cleaned. Luster on both too shiny.

The 1872 looks better than the 1928...
