Bid Pay question

Has anyone used BidPay to pay for an auction to an overseas seller?

Are there hefty fees or issues?

Thanks in advance for any info.....

  • I used it once. The total paid to the seller was somewhere around $18-20, the fee was $1.95. Seller was in Belgrade, Serbia. He sent me an e-mail about 2 hours after I did the transaction to let me know that he had received notification, and was shipping item out that day. Was a quick and easy transaction. I didn't think $2 was too bad to pay, considering the option of buying a money order ($1-2) and mailing it international ($.80), and waiting an extra week or so for my package (priceless).

I don't know if those fees are still the same rate as when I used, tho. I quit using it when they stopped accepting MasterCard. They only accept Visa and Amex.

I've used it quite a bit. Most of the time it's fine. The rates are rather high, I think, and customer service is nil. It is not at all unknown for one to get "lost"; if so, getting a replacement out is quite a challenge. At one point I had one refunded. I followed the rules and have never had any response from them since, despite multiple follow-up complaints. Generally, I use it only where no better option is available than to send cash, and I won't buy one for over $100.

  • Like Askari I have used Bidpay as a last resort. It was a while back now and from what I remember everything ran smoothly with it.

There are fees involved for the buyer when purchasing the money order but can't remember what these were off the top of my head.

    Cheers
