HOW Question

I'm not a non-sport guy, but I love following your threads and viewing the cards you post. I have a question, though. Are the Hitler cards in the HOW set exceedingly rare, or is the value based purely on the subject matter?

  • H.O.W. is generally regarded as the grandaddy and most desirable of all the 30s-era card sets, but even though it's a non-sport set, you can't deny star power.

Not only are the Hitler cards in the difficult high series, I would guess that a good deal of them got "defaced" in their day for somewhat obvious reasons....

  • The last 12 cards (#277 to #288) are the scarcest of the HOW set and all 3 Hitler cards (#277, 283 & 286) are in that group. Check out Ebay #6149936855 (Sorry don't know how to post links) for a group of poor HOW cards that includes #277 with a chunk missing from the bottom. Opening bid is $2.00.
