1964 A.H Kennedy question.

Did these occur in proof only? Is there any estimates of how many were produced? Thanks
for any help.imageimage

Proof Only. I don't know the mintage, maybe 5%--just a guess.

I believe Breen was wrong. It's more like 3% to 5%. There were approximately 50 dies produced for ODV-001 and they were minting about 4000 coins per die. Even if only half those dies were used, the number would be a minimum of 2.5%. Considering the climate at the time, it is unlikely that they discarded any, and highly likely that they used them all.

In addition to die production, my own experience hunting them tells me that production was higher than generally assumed by the "experts". We have to remember that people like Breen were researching everything, and didn't have the time or resources to be completely accurate in every case.
