An Ebay first!

I recently won a large lot of (heavy) books on Ebay. The auction clearly stated a $30 shipping charge which I factored into my bid. I paid with Paypal and the next day I received a payment from the seller. The message said: Postage wasn't as much since you live nearby. Here's a $5 refund.
I was floored!

I've had sellers charge $5 for shipping before, then look and see the postage was something like $0.60, and the padded envelope couldn't have cost more than a $1...when I ask about it, they inevitably say something like it's part of the cost. /shrug

Hi Al
I accidentally overpaid by a few bucks and the seller reimbursed me in cash with the cards! I was also very impressed - I mentioned it in the FB. This is a tribute to the fact that there are plenty of honest people on ebay!

Item as described; fast shipping; seller included refund!; outstanding seller!
If the box weight is on the cutoff btw weight classes I cut the flaps of the box down and and find a lighter packing material to lose a oz. or two. I only charge exact shipping so I feel its my job to make a little effort to save the buyer money. It is well worth the response I receive from suprised buyers. I had one guy send my refund back stating that he figured it into the bid and I deserved the extra $1.50 for quality packing.
