Just picked this up from the post office.

ANGLO-SAXON, Kings of Wessex. Alfred the Great. 871-899. AR Penny (20mm, 1.62 gm, 6h). Third coinage, circa 880-899. London mint; Cudberht, moneyer. +ÆL FR ED RE, cross pattée / CVDB ERHT. North 636; SCBC 1066. Good VF.

There is something about those early Saxon "text only" coins that grabs me and to find such a stunning example of such a scarce king is just amazing!
