Warning- Lincoln variety question

JRoccoJRocco Posts: 14,277 ✭✭✭✭✭
I broke out a roll of unc red 44P Lincoln's and noticed this coin had some funny things going on around the 44. At first I thought there were only some die gouges , but looking a lottle closer there appears to be some doubling also. Does this look like doubling to anyone else, or just die problems like gouges/breaks etc?

I always check out coppercoins. It is not listed there. By the way, that gorgeous 44P 1DO-003 on Chucks site is mine- maybe this one can make the 44P 1DO-004 ???

it looks like a LDS coin so i,d tend to think
the slight doubling and the other things
happening there could be atributed to die errosion?
    just a guess.
    very cool nonetheless.
    nice find.

There is a doubled masster die for 1944, that is what your coin looks like. There are other doubled dies for the date, but they will be much more pronounced than what you show.
