E-Mail exactly as I received it.

Nothing going on in my account. Certainly a bogus e-mail.

Thought I'd alert you good folks to this one.

People need to become even more wary, though, as the phishing schemes are improved. And people should lock their host files. A really evil spyware app could simply add entries to the host file redirecting you without you even knowing it while still looking like an absolutely correct URL.

Got it numerous times last week.

As for locking your hosts file, people should just quit using windows.

  • Haven't got that one yet, but I am sure I will. Remeber PayPal will always address your email with your full name. I also use this web site to find out who owns the IP that that sent the Email. PayPal is a US Company.

You can trace any ip address back to its source at http://www.dnsstuff.com/

Am so glad I use (and prefer) a Mac at home. image Phishing is becoming so prevalent it's scary. Things that appear on your desktop seem so unassuming - even those that pop-up claiming to "prevent" spyware intrusion can infiltrate your PC because their real purpose is phishing.

Linux and the Max OS won't prevent this activity forever - but for the most part they do it for now. There are many programs out there who can scan for free, and others who don't cost a lot for reasnonable protection.

Please refer to this excellent website: http://www.securitypipeline.com/

And I'll still stand by my Mac.

I must not be posting my paypal address in the right places. I didn't get one!

  • Been there done that. The new one for me is that a seller is disputing a paypal payment to me beacuse the item was never sent. Funny thing is, I haven't sold anything or received payment on paypal in months.
