Is this Sellers' coins on FeeBay cleaned?

tsacchtsacch Posts: 2,929 ✭✭✭
Just wondering what the opinions were of these raw coins. First I dont necessarily agree with the grades, I think more along 63/4, not 65/66...but the question at hand is....do they look cleaned?

Cleaned or not?

thanks,

tom

Notice how all his images are shot at a severe angle? Great way to hide blemishes and flaws.

  • I only clicked on one link, and that was for the 1943 Steel Penny. That definitely looks cleaned to me. You can see the hairlines around the 'LIBERTY' on the obverse. To me, things just look a little to 'hazy' based upon the detail of the strike. I would be pretty certain that they were dipped at one point, and some of them may have been abrasively cleaned. It's difficult to be certain with those pictures.
I collect the elements on the periodic table, and some coins. I have a complete Roosevelt set, and am putting together a set of coins from 1880.
  • Bought from this seller a couple of years ago (before I knew better).
Coins were not as described so I sent them back. He claimed he
never got them and I never got a refund.

Do the coins looked cleaned? I would say they are either cleaned
or the pictures were taken in such a way as to hide their problems. It also
hides the luster and detail: making the *look* cleaned.

I thought dipped based on what the copper cents I dipped looked like. Cool, thanks guys.

    ah... Gold ole Pop!

I tend to stay away from the obviously fake stories with 45% angled pictures... but many dont.

Kind of like the guy who has every single raw MS68 Jefferson in existance on Feebay and continues to easily find them(cause all of his Jeffs are MS68)... interesting that everyone just keeps giving him positive feedback, but his prices are weak.

I wouldn't touch any of this guy's stuff (unless I wanted to get screwed). image
