Wow,grades in, kicked my butt

Check invoice #9033567

The 74-D Ike going to NGC for the grade it deserves MS66 or MS67.

I guess if you grade modern proofs all day it makes the uncs. look really crummy.

They have been harsh. I have a clear cam quarter that came back as non cam. No question cam, though.

I sumbitted six coins and was not satisfied with any of the grades. These were coins that two dealers I know had both graded independently; these guys have been doing it for decades. Don't know what is going on with PCGS but something is not right there. Just my opinion

I'm terrified of selling an undergraded coin... and therefore terrified of sending coins to pcgs right now. I have tons though I need to send in in order to sell image

Boy there is a bunch of whine going on lately.

My submission for Merc Dimes came back exactly as I had predicted to another forum member. It looks to me that people should figure out exactly what PCGS is looking for and then submit your coins. Untill you do this, save your money because for sure you will be disappointed. The other alternative is to send your coins to NGC. Problem with this is that they have got just as tough as PCGS.

Conspiricy on grades equals BS and the statement was not warranted. The guy is a whiner.

Let me add one more thing to this "PCGS screws the Grades up Theme".

Showing coins to another person or persons does not mean squat. I do not care if they have been in the business for a hundred years. Unless they are in tune with the way PCGS or NGC gives out their opinion for the certain coin it does not mean a thing. Do you want a example ? If so just yell and I will tell you about the opinion that was received from a very popular person on these forums. Trust your own opinion that is derived through experience.

    Those Ikes are tough!

    Had a 1954 nickel in a PCGS 66CAM thought was a shot 67 CAM/DCAM. Cam back 64 no cam....go figure.

Guess that's how they make money. It's going back again.

Received some more grades today, this time much better.

    Invoice #9032867

Coins in these two submissions were not that different.

Why the huge difference in the grades?

    Why so inconsistent?

  • Althought I think there is a lot of whineing going on, I think there is some sort of conspiracy to undergrade certain coins obviously. I think they do it because the grades are so obviously incorrect, you'd be foolish not to re-submit them. IMHO (probably wrong though)image

Mister R, please turn on your PM function or send me an E-mail to; raycyca@comcast.net. Those MS Kennedys are really tough to get thru PCGS. I bougt a lot of them from people still in the cellos. Picked out the best ones, and most came back as MS 64's or lower. Only thing better than a 65 was a single 66 that I picked up from a dealer raw from a set in a book. Ray

Most people forget the third side of the coin! I have noticed that my submissions to all the companies have have been more accurate since I have done this. I also submit as if I would get a coin back at the grade lower that I graded it. So say I think a coin is an MS66, I would determine if it is worth submitting and getting back an MS65! Then I dont get too disappointed!
